The Weaving Center Of Persian Culture

Tabriz is famous for its handcrafted, hand-knotted rugs. The Tabriz style is considered a classic in the rug industry. Tabriz is the capital of the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran. It’s recognized as one of the oldest populated weaving centers in all of Persian Culture. The tradition reached its prime between the 12th and 16th centuries and played a significant role in the development of decorative arts. 

The Mahi Medallion

The Tabriz style displays different design variations. You will see traditional medallions, called “Mahi,” as well as detailed, historic pictorial designs.
